EXPERIENCE THE SONORAN DESERT AND TUCSON’S WORLD-CLASS MOUNTAIN BIKING…

HG is pleased to offer the Partnership for the National Trails System’s 2024 Trails Workshop attendees a full-service guided mountain biking tour on the Arizona Trail.

The 800-mile Arizona National Scenic Trail is the only national trail that allows mountain biking, and this stunning trail is worth experiencing on two wheels. The famous Arizona Trail starts at the border of Mexico and traverses through some of the most remote parts of the Sonoran desert, finishing 800 miles later at the Utah/Arizona border. This segment of the Arizona Trail, just south of Tucson, offers some of the best singletrack for mountain biking. Plan to see giant cacti and possibly wildlife. The backcountry nature of this ride makes for a memorable experience.

Home Grown MTB offers high-end carbon full suspension mountain bikes suited to the rugged Southern Arizona terrain. Our guides are trained and certified professional coaches (via Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association), and our annual guide training ensures our staff is prepared for any scenario in the backcountry. Included in all tours is transportation to/from the trail, a private guide for every 6 riders, a fun, scenic, challenging ride, and post-ride après.

ABOUT THE RIDE

Passage 7 crosses the valley between the Santa Rita and Rincon Mountains. The trail follows a singletrack path that rolls up and down grassy hillsides through fields of ocotillo, prickly pear cactus and creosote bush, and features spectacular views of the Empire Mountains to the east.

Mesquite trees, barrel cactus and cholla line the singletrack trail that dips in and out of sandy washes, crosses dirt and paved roads, and uses culverts to traverse underneath Highway 83 and Interstate 10. Overall, the terrain is fairly easy with only a few short climbs and a gentle descent to the north.
