Home Grown Mountain Biking Tours is proud to present… the 3rd annual HG 50 Year Skills Clinic!
This clinic is OPEN TO ALL RIDERS! Small groups will be selected based on ability level and experience. Professional Mountain Bike Instructors will provide a safe environment to progress your abilities on the bike, and help you apply those skills on the trail. These trails offer technical climbs, quick and snappy corners, drops & rock roll downs, and flowy descents on tight single track through cacti forests. While these trails require a higher level of skill to navigate, they are incredibly rewarding and fun! Guided afternoon rides will expose riders to this epic Sonoran Desert terrain with plenty of features to session.

MEET THE HG COACH TEAM:
Tara Alcantara
Tara has been mountain biking for 25+ years, and has devoted her life to growing the sport and helping increase opportunities for riders in the all-mountain, or “enduro” and downhill disciplines. Tara is a Level 2 PMBIA Certified Coach, and a Head Coach for Ladies Allride with Lindsey Richter, having traveled to Montana and Wyoming each summer since 2016 to coach riders from all over the country on some of the best trails. Tara is a founding member and former president of TORCA (Tucson Off-Road Cyclists & Activists), and owner of Home Grown MTB Tours, a guiding, coaching, shuttle, and rental company. Mt Lemmon is her backyard – Tara’s first love is downhill, and riding fast and challenging terrain is where she finds her flow. Check her out on this video taken on Bug Spring trail:

Matt Hrabko
Matt relocated to Tucson from California several years ago and dove head first into the MTB scene. He is a lead guide for HG, a Director on the board for TORCA, and talented mechanic for Tucson Performance & Endurance Center. Matt makes his living riding and working on bikes, and has a “calm, cool, and collected” style that makes him a pleasure to be around. As a PMBIA certified Coach, Matt has worked with hundreds of riders to help them improve their skills and ride with more confidence. Whether he’s riding the chunk on the local trails or traveling to bike parks for downhill action, Matt is a talented athlete who is always happy to share the stoke with those around him!
Kimber Burger
As a Lead Guide and Head Coach for HG MTB, Kimber has coached and lead hundreds of riders on expert terrain. She credits her own progression in the sport to her first clinic with HG in 2018. Kimber is a skilled rider and an example of what good fundamentals can do! Her ability to exemplify sound technique is a testament to her skills. In the summer, Kimber can be found at Angel Fire bike park and other downhill parks. She is a PMBIA Level 1 coach and also works for Ladies AllRide with Lindsey Richter, helping riders expand their riding to big mountain, lift-accessed trails. In addition to being an exceptional mountain biker, Kimber is a pleasure to be around and learn from.
Art Alcantara
Art is co-owner of HG MTB, founder of TORCA (Tucson Off-Road Cyclists & Activists), PMBIA Certified MTB Coach, and a big supporter of the ladies! Art is a talented rider who prefers long, backcountry epics and hot laps at the bike park. Art got into the sport after meeting his wife, Tara, and together they’ve spent the past two decades making dreams come true on the bike. Favorite places to ride are Retallack – BC, Whistler, Angel Fire Bike Park, and Mt Lemmon. His first coaching student was his wife, Tara, who he helped to develop into the rider she is today. Locally, Art has developed opportunities and advocated on behalf of riders for the past decade. He is currently working with the Coronado National Forest Santa Catalina Ranger District on it’s Master Trails Plan to develop trails on Mt Lemmon.
Juan Del Castillo
Growing up riding dirt bikes in Tucson, Juan is most comfortable on two wheels. After living and riding in Angel Fire, New Mexico for many years, he turned his focus to mountain biking. Juan made a name for himself at the Angel Fire Bike Park, winning several “whip off” contests, and competing at a professional level in downhill and enduro races. Juan is a lead guide for Home Grown MTB and PMBIA certified mountain bike coach. His smooth and creative style of riding has inspired many other riders, and Juan is genuinely happy to share his techniques with those around him.
**PLEASE NOTE: HG believes a well-rounded athlete benefits from the perspective of both male and female coaching and ridership; as such, this clinic is co-ed**
